Successes and Impact of The WIF Awards

 

 

Impact on nominees

 

 

The Women in Finance Awards has transcended the ceremonial through the rippling effect of positive change institutionally, industry-wise and personally for its accomplished laureats.

 

It succeeded in giving impetus to Laureats to roll out products on the drawing board. Examples of these are UT Bank officially rolling out Akoma.com inititative for its women clients,

 

Enterprise life officially partnered with the WIF Award Sister-project- National Women's Economic Dialogue and Finance 

Fair to Launch and further publicise their Award-Winning product, Enterprise Lady Care which made positive impact on each and every woman participant at the 2014 WOMENS FINANCE FAIR .

 

Right after the 2015 Insurance Product of the Year was recieved by Vanguard Assurance, the respected institution proceeded to roll out another womens car insurance product. Kudos again Vanguard !

 

 

Happenings in the finance industry 

 

The Awards succeeded in the throwing a long awaited spotlight on the capabilities of Women within the industry and beginning a conversation on how financial Institutions should begin to recognize these capabilities and feminine talents. 

A number of high profile female appointments were made after February 2014. 

 

 

UBA's newly appointed Managing Director /CEO  Mrs Abiola Bawuah, immediately after appointment proceeded to roll out the Ruby Account as one of her first initiatives in Office. This was in April 2014. The First edition of WIF Awards was in February 2014. 

 

Mrs.Patience Akyianu Barclays Bank Ghana, Ms.Nilla Selormey- United Merchant Bank were appointments that followed suit during the year.

 

 

The nation's 2nd female to be appointed as Deputy Minister for Finance was in the person of Mona Quartey, within the same year.

 

PriceWater & Coopers set in motion their Workplace initiaitive for Women known as Diversity and Inclusion Workplace initiative.

 

 

Commendations

 

Commendations received by the Awards include

 

from the Ghana's Ministry of Finance

  • through its Female Deputy Minister who was herself honored as Life patron at the 2015 WIF Awards Cermony.

 

The National Insurance Commission

  • through its Female Commissioner

 

Institutute of Chartered Accountantants
